Dr Ofweneke warns women he can sense material motives in relationships
TV host and stand-up comedian Sande Bush Oyolo, alias Dr Ofweneke, has openly stated that he is not one of those men who can be easily misled into relationships motivated solely by financial gain.
Speaking during a segment at a local TV station on the night of Saturday, August 9, 2025, he insisted that men possess an innate ability to read a woman’s true intentions from the outset, making it difficult for anyone to fool them with superficial affection or materialistic demands.
“I want to be clear that men know the intention a woman has towards us. We know. Even though I may not be where I want to be financially, I am among the men in the average middle class who are doing very well, and I give thanks for that. I know when a woman is after what I can buy, not what I can offer,” Ofweneke emphasised.
He elaborated on how men are attuned to the subtle cues that distinguish genuine love from transactional relationships.
According to him, when a woman’s focus is predominantly on what she can receive materially, rather than on the emotional connection or the man’s well-being, it raises red flags.
“When materialistic demands outweigh simple gestures of care, when you hear more ‘send me this’ than ‘how was your day?’, there is a serious problem. Men pick up on this imbalance immediately,” he explained.
Baby traps
Ofweneke also addressed a concerning trend where some women intentionally trap men by having children, hoping this will secure financial security or companionship.
He suggested that these actions often stem from deeper emotional wounds or societal pressures.
“A lot of women trap men with babies to try and solve some form of trauma. Sometimes it is because their mothers advised them to marry rich. The mother may not have had the chance to marry a wealthy man, so she encourages her daughter to do so at any cost, often forgetting the importance of love,” he said.

He described this advice as a dangerous precedent, with some women choosing to have children with men they do not truly love, believing that the child will bind the relationship and that problems will be resolved later.
Furthermore, Ofweneke explained that some women trap men not only for financial gain but also for emotional reasons.
“Some women trap men with children because they themselves lacked companionship growing up and desire a partner in life. Others may be attracted to a man’s intellect and want their child to inherit that brilliance.”
