Actress Dorea Chege and social media personality Azziad Nasenya bagged the lead roles in a new drama series set to hit the screen soon.
Chege, who shot to fame for a role in the popular TV series ‘Maria’, is the main character in the new series dubbed ‘Pink Ladies’.
Azziad also joined a star-studded cast as she debuts her acting career.
The series dubbed is headlined by Dorea Chege (Anne), Azziad (Cecilia), Shix Kapienga (Trizah), Pascal Tokodi (Charlie) among other thespians.
Pink Ladies revolves around four single women who find themselves navigating the complexities of life, friendship, relationships, career and finances.
Azziad and Dorea Chege donned matching outfits during the launch of the drama series at a red carpet-event held a day ago.
“God is faithful. These are people who have watched me build myself from ground. They know,” Azziad wrote in a post on social media.
Dorea equally expressed her excitement and joy in a series of posts she shared on her InstaStories.
Playing the lead character in the ‘Pink Ladies’ drama series is the first major role that Dorea Chege has landed ever since curtains came down on ‘Maria’ series where she played Maggie.
Dorea Chege also felt elated having been picked to play the main character ahead of Azziad, Shix Kapienga and Pascal Tokodi who are all heavyweights in the industry.
Awinja, Mulamwah, Ofweneke, Habida, Phil Karanja, Blessing Lung’aho, Eddie Butita were among the celebs who attended the red-carpet event.
Speaking at the launch of Pink Ladies drama series, Timothy Owase, the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Film Commission highlighted the government’s commitment to collaborating with private entities in the film industry to foster the creation and promotion of the digital economy.
“We will continue to partner with the private sector in the areas of film and local content to advance the realization of the Kenya Kwanza manifesto on digital and blue economy. The film industry has the potential not only to empower Kenyans economically but also to advocate for a socially responsible society,” he said.
