Kenyan comedian David Oyando, popularly known as Mulamwah, has addressed speculation regarding whether his attempts to reunite with his baby mama, Carrol Sonnie, and their child were of his own volition or influenced by pressure from fans who questioned why he was not making efforts to reconnect with his child.

Speaking during an interview with KMS Media on Saturday, March 29, 2025, Mulamwah stated that the attempts to reconcile had unfolded as they had and emphasised that he bore no ill feelings over the failed bid to mend fences. He added that he remained hopeful that things would work out in the future.

According to him, the success of such matters is dependent on the approach one takes, and he believes he has made sufficient strides towards reconciliation, achieving some progress, albeit not on a grand scale.

“Reunion ni kitu itafanyika with time. It’s about the coping mechanism, and people have different ones. So ni duty yako. I believe step zenye tumemake ni mingi na tutafika lakini hatutaki kurudi huko nyuma,” he shared.

Mulamwah further noted that what matters most at present is whether both parties are doing well, adding that if they are, then for the time being, they are on the right path, as things will eventually fall into place.

Additionally, he subtly suggested that sometimes, when a partner seems to be acting out, it may be due to their separation. He shared that he continually prays, hoping that his relationship with his baby mama and child will unfold as he desires.

“As long as everybody is doing well, hiyo ndiyo maana. Unajua sometimes kuna scientist alisema sodium is very reactive ikiwa peke yake. So kuna vitu zikiwa peke yake hukuwa different. Sometimes things may work and other times they may not, but you keep praying. In the coming years, I hope things will fall into place,” he said.

Misconceptions

In the same interview, Mulamwah also addressed common misconceptions about him, noting that one of the biggest was the perception that he is tall and has a towering figure. He mentioned that people are often surprised when they meet him in person and realise that he is actually short.

He also refuted claims that he is rude, explaining that people misconstrue his reserved nature.

Watu husema Mulamwah ni msumbufu na wengine husema Mulamwah ni mrefu. Sasa wakiniona wanashangaa ala kumbe ni mfupi na online walikuwa wanafikiria mimi ni mkubwa. Pia mimi si msumbufu, I am just reserved, and I am a cool person,” he said.

Mulamwah further discussed how misconceptions extend to his current partner, Ruth K.

He noted that people online often troll her for isolating herself, yet, in reality, she simply does not adore popularity.

He defended her, explaining that at Kabugi’s Smiles Caravan event, she had been asked to speak on stage but struggled because she is not a public speaker.

Wengine wanasema Ruth K anajisegregate lakini hapana. Siku ile si uliona kwa show ya Kabugi alishindwa kuongea? Yeye si mtu wa hizo vitu, ako na uwoga, anapenda kukaa online. Uoga yake itaisha though. Unaona ni ati yeye ni reserved. About myself, I am also not controlling, as people have also said about me. I am simply conservative,” he stated.

Ruth K’s Proposal

The ex-Milele FM presenter’s remarks come just a month after he officially proposed to his lover, Ruth K, leaving her elated.

The exciting news about the proposal was first revealed by Ruth on her official Instagram page on Monday, February 17, 2025, where she gushed over a sparkling ring that Mulamwah had presented to her.

The mother of one also shared adorable snapshots of her hand, showcasing her red-and-white acrylic nails while proudly displaying the ring. She further delighted fans with a video of the ring inside its box, surrounded by roses, before Mulamwah slipped it onto her finger.

On his part, Mulamwah took to his Instagram page to share the same photos, captioning them with admiration, stating that cute fingers like Ruth K’s deserved to be adorned with rings, while adding heart and kiss emojis.

The comedian also shared photos of the bouquets of flowers he had gifted Ruth during the proposal and later went to her post to reply with heart emojis.

The couple is undeniably one of the hottest topics in town, thanks to their public relationship and constant displays of affection in the form of sweet, lovey-dovey snaps that keep their fans swooning.

Ruth K, known online as Mama Kalamz, was not a notable figure on the internet until Mulamwah introduced her as his girlfriend, initially claiming she was just his “bestie.”

Since then, Ruth has become a highly regarded digital content creator, launching her own YouTube channel, which has now amassed over 150,000 subscribers.

According to Mulamwah, the two first crossed paths in 2021 at a hardware store in Kitale, where Ruth worked as an attendant.

Mulamwah was there purchasing supplies for his Kitale mansion, and that’s when they struck up a connection.

They soon began sharing affectionate videos, causing fans to speculate whether they were truly just friends, as Mulamwah initially insisted. However, the comedian later clarified that Ruth was, in fact, his girlfriend.

He explained that despite the online drama, he preferred to call her his “bestie” because it felt more romantic to him.

Their relationship has flourished over time, and they have even ventured into business together.

On February 10, 2024, Ruth gave birth to their son, Oyando Jr.
