Daddy Owen recalls taking a Nairobi babe to Dubai, shares why he regrets it

Gospel singer Daddy Owen has opened up about one of the most extravagant yet regretful experiences of his youth, reflecting on a lavish trip he once took to Dubai with a Nairobi lady, a trip he now describes as a complete waste of money.
Speaking during an interview with Alex Mwakideu on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Owen noted that what was meant to be a luxurious getaway quickly turned sour when he discovered that the lady had lied about never having been to Dubai before, leaving him feeling misled and frustrated.
“The most money I have ever spent and regretted is when I took a lady to Dubai. It was a waste of my money. I took her on a vacation there, but the reason I regret it is that she lied about never having been to Dubai before. When we got there, I realised she had been before and had deceived me,” he said.

He revealed that at the time, he was in his early twenties and living a life many would envy, owning a car and a sprawling seven-bedroom house fully occupied with friends and relatives.
He narrated that his lifestyle was defined by frequent luxury trips and carefully orchestrated outings, where even a short excursion to Mombasa required two vehicles to transport everyone comfortably.
“My biggest personal regret is that I wish I had had my children earlier. Between the ages of 20 and 23, I was well off. I had cars and a seven-bedroom house, and all the rooms were occupied. I remember that even for trips, like going to Mombasa, we would need two cars because one was not enough,” he narrated.
He added that stays at high-end hotels were week-long affairs, marked by relaxation, laughter, and indulgence, a snapshot of youthful abundance at its peak.
“We stayed in big hotels, like Milele Beach Hotel, and spent a whole week relaxing, enjoying ourselves and hosting friends,” he said.
However, Owen regretted not heeding his father’s advice to consider marriage during those formative years, recognising that listening to that guidance could have shaped his personal life differently.
He revealed that, beyond financial missteps, his greatest personal regret is not fathering his children earlier, noting that starting a family sooner would have provided direction and purpose during the years he was focused on wealth and social exploits.
“Back then, my father kept urging me to get married, and I regret not listening to his advice. Those were the years I could have balanced my wealth and freedom with building a family.”
