South Africa-based Kenyan comedian Elsa Majimbo is under pressure from a section of Kenyans on social media to address the ongoing violence in South Africa.

This is after the 19-year-old comic said that she is not planning on living in Kenya, terming the country unsafe for her.

In a past interview with content creator Anas Bukhash, Majimbo also took a swipe at Kenyans saying they have made it hard for her to live peacefully in Nairobi.

“I have a bad relationship with Nairobi. People think it is just the internet but people have made it hard for me in Nairobi. It did feel like everyone in the city is against me. So most of the time I would stay in the house and mind my own business. Then I went to South Africa where I was supposed to stay for four and I’ve never looked back,” said Majimbo.

Now, protests have broke in South Africa in the wake of former president Jacob Zuma’s jailing and Kenyans on social media are up in arms demanding the comedian to address the situation in ‘her country’.

“Where is our sister Elsa Majimbo, the South African citizen? Is South Africa safe from there? I believe there is no looting going on right now. I guess media is lying to us. Lemme tell you in Kenya we are fighting now,” one, @master_vinnie sarcastically remarked.

On the other hand, another social media user, @abuga_makori said;

“A few months ago, I questioned Elsa Majimbo’s attitude to our country, Kenya. She openly said Kenya is not safe. He even said in a serious society, she should face treason. You all abused me just coz I am a patriot. Let her now talk of violence in South Africa. Or she’s young?”

“So Elsa Majimbo jumped from frying pan (by saying Kenya is not safe) into the fire (see what is happening in SA right now). Hope she is safe there,” @ValentineMwamburi wrote.
