Cashmere Sayyid compares her fake wedding to Jux’s

Social media personality Cashmere Sayyid has once again grabbed attention online after comparing her much-talked-about fake wedding to Tanzanian singer Jux’s wedding.
In a new Instagram post on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, she shared a photogrid featuring Jux’s wedding and her own staged ceremony, captioning it: “A wedding is a wedding. You get married to the person/thing you love the most.”
The post has sparked fresh conversations among her followers, many of whom are still intrigued by the events surrounding her elaborate wedding stunt earlier this month.
Powerful message
The “wedding” in question, which took place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, was initially billed as one of the most glamorous celebrity events of the year. Guests, fans, and online spectators were left stunned when Cashmere revealed there was, in fact, no wedding at all.

Instead, the evening became the launch event for a new school, a project she described as deeply personal, shaped by the hardships she endured growing up.
She explained that she allowed the wedding narrative to spread intentionally to capture attention for her cause. In a candid speech that night, Cashmere opened up about a painful chapter in her childhood, revealing how she narrowly escaped being married off to an older man while still underage.
“I remember when I was young; I was almost married off to an old man,” she recalled. “I had not been told clearly what was happening, but I later learned that the man had specifically said he wanted an underage girl like me. After that, I was taken to a certain high school. I used to read so much, and people thought I was trying to show off, but in truth, I was simply trying to take advantage of an opportunity. I wanted to prove to them that I was going to succeed.”
Cashmere also shared how she was pulled out of school due to family debts and faced the threat of being sent back to Ethiopia for an arranged marriage. She says these experiences fuel her drive to create educational opportunities for others.
