Bishop Michael Wanderi has confirmed that the memorial service for the late gospel singer Betty Bayo will be held at his church, Christian Foundation Fellowship (CFF) in Kiambu Town, on Sunday, November 16, 2025.

Speaking during a press conference held together with Betty’s family and the burial committee on Friday, November 14, 2025, Wanderi revealed that the memorial will start at 2 pm and urged all Kenyans to attend.

“I welcome all Kenyans to join us this Sunday at 2 pm for the memorial service at our church. We are coming together to mourn, to share in the grief, and to pay tribute to Betty Bayo’s legacy as a gospel singer and as a devoted Christian,” Wanderi said.

Wanderi highlighted Betty Bayo’s significant role in the church, noting that she was not just an ordinary congregant but an active minister who dedicated herself to supporting and uplifting others.

“She was not just a normal congregant; she was also helping in ministering, and so we feel a lot of grief,” he said, acknowledging the deep sorrow shared by church members and the wider gospel community.

He reflected on the suddenness of her passing, noting that the entire nation is mourning in stunned silence.

“Even if you listen, the world is silent, and there is a lot of grief because of her passing. She did not get sick for a long time and died, so the grief is immense in our country,” the preacher said.

Wanderi emphasised the importance of giving Betty Bayo a respectful and befitting send-off, citing scripture to underline the significance of honouring the deceased.

“The Bible says that if a person gives to 100 children and then fails to receive a befitting send-off, that person is better off than the baby who died in the womb. We want to give Betty Bayo a respectful send-off and are asking the country to keep praying for her family,” he said.

He described the memorial as an opportunity for Kenyans to come together, mourn collectively, and celebrate the life and faith of the late songstress.

“The memorial service will be held in my church. We are coming together to show respect to Betty Bayo, to mourn together, and to share in the grief,” Bishop Wanderi said.

Bishop Wanderi also expressed condolences on behalf of CFF, calling on Kenyans to join in prayers for Betty Bayo’s family during this difficult time.

“As a church, we offer our condolences and are urging people to come out in large numbers so that we can give her a respectful and befitting send-off,” Wanderi said.

Betty Bayo passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 1:03 pm at the Kenyatta National Hospital’s private wing.

She had been battling acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding, having initially been admitted to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital on Friday, November 7, 2025, when her condition worsened.

According to family representatives, doctors tried to stabilise her, but her body eventually succumbed.
