Bishop Kiengei shares how he shielded Betty Bayo as a ‘Kilimani Mums’ admin

Jesus Compassion Ministries [JCM] head preacher Bishop Ben Kiengei has opened up about the crucial role he played in protecting gospel singer Betty Bayo and Pastor Victor Kanyari from targeted social media attacks during their time together as a married couple.
Speaking candidly about the challenges they faced online during Betty’s memorial on Sunday, November 16, 2025, Kiengei revealed that his position as an administrator of the widely-followed Facebook group Kilimani Mums allowed him to intervene whenever posts threatened to expose or embarrass the couple.
The bishop, who has been a close friend to Bayo, recalled that there was a time when they used to face immense pressure from online gossip and public scrutiny, long before Bayo separated from the Salvation Healing Ministries founder.
“Betty and Kanyari were victims of social media bullying. At times, it felt overwhelming because the attacks were relentless,” he said.
Kiengei recounted how he used a pseudo account to monitor content on Kilimani Mums, a platform known for its large and active membership, and swiftly removed posts that could potentially expose the couple.
“I remember that time, Betty Bayo, Ben Githae, and I used to get so worried because we were always being talked about online. On a lighter note, it was not Betty Bayo or Ben Githae who helped us walk away from the issue; it was I who helped them. I was an admin on the popular Facebook group ‘Kilimani Mums’, and they did not know that. I had a pseudo account. So if Githae was exposed there, I would delete the post, and the same applied if Betty was exposed there with her then-husband Kanyari, I would also delete those posts,” the preacher said.

The bishop added that while he intervened for Bayo and Kanyari, no one acted to shield him from similar attacks, highlighting the personal toll of being in the public eye.
“But for me, no one used to delete my posts. I had to endure it alone,” Kiengei admitted.
Kiengei then warned that people should not misrepresent the story about him being an admin of the group, explaining that he was not yet born again at the time.
He said that God was still preparing him to become a powerful minister of the gospel, adding that it is common for God to put one through tests before ordaining them for His work.
“Before God uses you in public, He will break you in private. This was a reality for them, but it also became a platform for growth, resilience, and eventual impact,” he said.
The revelations come as Kenyans continue to reflect on the life and legacy of Betty Bayo, who passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, after battling acute leukaemia and complications from excessive bleeding.
