Betty Kyalo reacts to ongoing political tensions in Tanzania and other countries in Africa

Media personality Betty Kyallo has shared a heartfelt message expressing concern over the growing wave of political instability and violence across parts of Africa.
In a reflective post shared on her Instagram stories on Monday, November 3, 2025, Betty reminded her followers to remain mindful of the human suffering happening across the continent, even as they go about their daily routines.

“Happy new week guys. As we go about our daily lives, let’s not forget about the conflicts unfolding in our continent. Violence, displacement, and human rights abuses are pouring in shockingly from Tanzania, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo,” she wrote.
Conflicts across Africa
Her message comes at a time when multiple African nations are grappling with civil unrest, disputed elections, and armed conflict crises that continue to claim lives and displace thousands of civilians.

Tanzania is currently experiencing heightened political tensions following its disputed national elections. The ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), led by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, has been accused by human rights bodies of restricting political freedoms and silencing dissenting voices.
Conflict in Sudan
Sudan remains engulfed in one of Africa’s worst humanitarian crises, following the brutal power struggle between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) that began in April 2023.
The conflict, which has torn through Khartoum, Darfur, and other regions, has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands and displaced millions both internally and into neighbouring countries.
Entire communities have been razed, hospitals destroyed, and food shortages have pushed many to the brink of famine. The United Nations warns that the situation could become “the world’s largest displacement crisis” if fighting continues.
In the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, decades of unrest continue as armed rebel groups battle government forces for control of mineral-rich territories.
The M23 rebel movement, reportedly backed by foreign actors, has been at the center of renewed fighting that has displaced over 1 million people in North Kivu Province alone.
The conflict is fuelled by ethnic rivalries, competition over resources, and weak governance, with civilians facing rampant human rights abuses, including killings, sexual violence, and forced recruitment.
