Former gospel artiste-cum-digital content creator Kevin Bahati widely known as Bahati has called out musicians and stakeholders in Kenya’s gospel industry.

In a series of messages on his official Instagram page, Bahati said that Kenya is a revival point of the gospel ministry however the current generation might not be able to produce big gospel brands like before.

He added that the current cadre that has risen in the church is full of hate and envy of each other.

“Kenya was and is still the revival point of the Gospel but we might not be able to produce big gospel brands like 10 years ago, the brands that God has risen in the Church are jealous and envious of each other,” he said.

Comparing the gospel industry to the secular, Bahati affirmed that the gospel industry is full of hypocrites since people are quick to gather and put you down when you succeed more than the secular world.

“Hypocrites are more in the church than in the secular world, God is not moving in hypocrisy God is not mocked when you succeed people are quick to gather and put you down in the gospel industry than in Gengetone,” he said.

Kenya’s Gospel industry vs international

The EMB records CEO stated that many Kenyans are now looking up to international gospel musicians more not because local musicians can’t sing but because of the hypocrisy.

“The reason why God has moved to industries like Nigeria and Rwanda, We are now looking up to Sinach and people like my good friend Israel Mbony is not because Kenyans don’t sing well or have good worship /praise songs No! No! No! the truth is, “Bahati stated.

Going back to gospel

Bahati, who first came to the limelight after releasing gospel songs, has ruled out any possibility of going back to the gospel industry stating that gospel musicians are not supportive.

“I rarely talk about the church nanajua wanajijua watasema natafta kiki but the Truth is mimi huogopa kukaribia tena hii industry juu najua vile wanachukiana,” he said.

Bahati further advised the gospel musicians to repent and stop their hypocrisy so that God could uplift them like their counterparts.

Wadau mimi sio mwokovu sana kama engine wenyu hapa online lakini kitu najua is we need to repent and stop the hypocrisy for God to take us to the next level otherwise God naomba aendelee kuinia urbatone kabisa mjifanya Deputy Jesus nanyinyi ni Hypocrites,” he advised.
