Arnold Saviour appeals to govt after Visa issues cancel Netherlands performance

Stand-up comedian Arnold Asamba, widely known as Arnold Saviour, has sent an appeal to the government through the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and the Arts, after he was forced to withdraw from the highly anticipated Kikwetu Festival in the Netherlands due to unforeseen visa complications.

Despite successful planning and finalised travel arrangements, the comedian was unable to secure the necessary documentation in time.

In an official statement issued on Thursday, August 28, 2025, the comedian called upon the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and the Arts, private sector partners, visa facilitation bodies, and local talent agencies to collaborate in streamlining processes that support artists travelling abroad.

“It is with deep regret that we announce Arnold Saviour will not be performing at the much-anticipated KIKWETU FESTIVAL IN THE NETHERLANDS this year due to unforeseen visa Issues,” the statement reads.

“We also call to action, not only to support Arnold Saviour but to shine a spotlight on the urgent need for structural support within Kenya’s creative and performing arts sectors. A Call to Stakeholders in the Createe Ecosystem To prevent such missed opportunities in the future, we call upon: The Ministry of Youth, Sports, and the Arts, Private sector partners and sponsors, Visa facilitation bodies and embassies and Local talent agencies and entertainment unions.”

Additionally, the stand-up comedian highlighted the importance of timely and efficient visa processing to enable artists to represent Kenya on international platforms.

“Let us work hand-in-hand to streamline support mechanisms for artists travelling abroad, ensuring smoother processes, timely documentation, and institutional backing, “the statement reads.

He added that the setback has not only disappointed him but also his growing international fanbase.

“This is a heartbreaking development for both the artist and his growing fanbase, especially given that all travel arrangements had already been successfully finalised well in advance,” the statement reads.

Despite the set back Saviour remains committed to his craft and continues to seek opportunities to showcase Kenyan talent globally.

“Arnold Saviour remains committed to representing Kenya on the world stage. His passion, with an undeniable talent, will not be dimmed by this temporary challenge; in fact, it only fuels the fire,” he stated.
