Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has spoken a day after he was accused of stealing dogs from a dog farmer James Isokat.

The One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principal now says he will not pay for security dogs he ordered even after they were delivered to his Karen home by Isokat.

According to documents and detailed information in our possession, Wetangula ordered two male German Shepherds aged one year and six months respectively from a breeder Isokat on June 11, 2021, and he has not cleared an arrear as promised. This has forced the dog farmer to consider the legislator as a thief after making fruitless attempts of getting paid.

The cost of the two dogs in addition to food, grooming products and tools and training amounted to ksh348, 100 but after keeping them for two months Wetangula has now reneged on his promise and wants the dogs removed from his compound.

According to receipts, Wetangula paid a deposit of ksh100, 000 on July 13, 2021, but declined to clear the balance of ksh248, 000. For two months now the One Kenya Alliance co-principal has been taking Isokat rounds with empty promises.

The farmer claimed he has been to Wetangula’s home but has not been able to access him. He reported the matter to Karen police station vide OB number OB7A1N1N19/21.

Isokat who wants to be paid or allowed to take back his dogs with compensation for services he rendered to the Senator says he fears for his life after Wetangula, on phone, claimed he has become a nuisance.

The Senator in a Whatsapp message told K24 Digital he wants a refund of his downpayment for the farmer to take back his dogs.

“I have told that gentleman to bring back my deposit of Sh100, 000 and collect his grossly overpriced dogs. Tell him to deliver the payment to my home manager and take his dogs. I will not charge him for feeding and caring for them for the period they have been in my custody” Wetangula said adding that; “Besides, I may contemplate legal action against him for defamation and nuisance”.

After K24 Digital published the story yesterday, a source at his home confided that Wetangula is concerned about the harm it would have on his aspiration for the presidential post and has instructed his domestic workers to handle the mess.
