National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has announced the passing of a senior official of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).

In a message of condolence shared via his official X account on the night of Wednesday, June 11, 2025, Wetang’ula stated that he had received with deep sorrow and profound sadness the news of the death of Maasai Lekipaika, the Deputy Director of Human Resource Services at the PSC.

In the heartfelt tribute, Wetang’ula described Lekipaika as a distinguished and committed public servant whose professional journey reflected unwavering dedication, humility, and excellence for over 27 years.

“It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that I have received the news of the untimely passing of Mr. Maasai Lekipaika, the Deputy Director of Human Resource Services at the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC). Mr Lekipaika was a distinguished public servant whose career in education and human resource management spanned over 27 years,” Wetang’ula stated.

He pointed out that the deceased began his career in the education sector, where he served as a high school teacher and principal.

According to Wetang’ula, Lekipaika’s commitment to leadership and public service led him to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Secretariat, where he rose to become a Senior Principal Administrative Officer between 1994 and 2007.

“From his early days as a high school teacher and principal to his role as Senior Principal Administrative Officer at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Secretariat between 1994 and 2007, he served with unwavering dedication and integrity,” Wetang’ula’s statement read in part.

“After joining the Parliamentary Service Commission in November 2007, Ms Lekipaika advanced through the ranks, first as Principal Human Resource Development Officer, then as Chief Human Resource Development Officer, and finally as Deputy Director, Human Capital. He mentored colleagues, fostered a culture of professionalism and service excellence, and significantly shaped and strengthened the Commission’s human resource structures during his tenure.”

Moreover, Wetang’ula says Lekipaika was regarded as a respected colleague and a valued adviser within the parliamentary fraternity due to his extensive experience and composed manner.

“Mr. Lekipaika is renowned for his self-control, discipline, and strong dedication to staff welfare and institutional development. He was regarded as a respected colleague and a valued adviser within the parliamentary fraternity due to his extensive experience and composed manner,” he stated.

“I offer my personal condolences to his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he impacted through his leadership and work, as well as those of the Parliamentary Service Commission, National Assembly members, and staff. May the Almighty grant his soul eternal rest, and may his family find peace and strength during this difficult time.”
