Wednesday blackout to hit parts of 4 counties

Kenya Power has announced a planned power outage that is expected to affect parts of four counties on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
In an advisory released on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, the utility company said the blackout is part of routine network maintenance.
In the Nairobi region, areas including Ziwani, Kariokor, and parts of Katani and Syokimau will experience power interruptions from 9 am to 5 pm. Affected residents include those around Kinyanjui Street, Starehe Boys, Ziwani Health Clinic, Kariokor Cemetery, Blowplast, Dam Estate, Kuchi Road, and Greatwall Apartments.
In South Nyanza, parts of Kisii Town and surrounding neighbourhoods such as Botori SDA, Daraja Mbili Market, Nyanchwa Police Station, Ekerore, Christamarian, State Lodge, Nyanchwa Boys and Girls Schools, Etago, Ekona, Kenyenya, Mogenga, Moticho, Gesabakwa, Nyabera, and Nyangweta will also experience outages between 9 am and 5 pm.
Parts of Nyeri County, including Gathambo, Gaturumo-Ini, Kiamigwi Village, Gitima-Ini Village, and areas with Safaricom and Airtel boosters, will be affected during the same hours. In Kiambu County, residents in Limuru Town, Karanja, Kwambira, Kamirithu, Tharuini, Step Joy Boys, Rwacumaria, Kamonoru, Ndiuni, Nyataragi, Thigio, Thigio Boroti, Gichungo, Kiriri, Manguo, Ngarariga Girls, Rufus, and Murengeti are also expected to experience the blackout.
In Kiambu County, residents in parts of Limuru Town, Karanja, Kwambira, Kamirithu, Tharuini, Step Joy Boys, Rwacumaria, Kamonoru, Ndiuni, Nyataragi, Thigio, Thigio Boroti, Gichungo, Kiriri, Manguo, Ngarariga Girls, Rufus, and Murengeti will also experience power outages from 9 am to 5 pm.
