Wednesday blackout to affect parts of 7 counties

Kenya Power has announced a blackout that will affect parts of seven counties on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
In an advisory released on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the utility company attributed the planned interruptions to routine network maintenance. The company said the blackout will run from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm in the affected areas across seven counties.
In Kajiado County, residents of Kitengela will be affected. The outage will cover areas including Kitengela Medical, St. Lilliana, Deliverance Road, Baraka Road, Balozi Road, Tropicana, Mama Muiruri, Chuna, Upper Valley, Safaricom estates one and two, Muigai, Police Sacco, Ola, East Africa University, Kimalat and the surrounding neighbourhoods.
In the North Rift region, parts of West Pokot County will be affected. The blackout will hit Sigor, Ipet, Tamkal, Chesta, Chesta Teachers College, Lomut and nearby areas.
The Western region will also see interruptions in Siaya County, particularly in Ngiya. Institutions and areas that will experience the outage include Karapul Primary, Barding High School, Rambo School, Pap Oriang Keromo and surrounding villages.

In Bungoma County, residents and businesses in Butali will go without power during the scheduled hours. Areas affected include Hongera Millers, Pan Africa Chemical, Kenol Kobil, Power Gas, Butali Sugar, Tachoni Jaggary, Teressia Primary, Chebwai Adventist School, Kivai Secondary School, Matete Market, Chabadia Factory, Chimoi Market, Lwandeti, Kaburengu and nearby customers.
Parts of Nyeri County will also be affected, especially the Mikundi and Maganjo areas. Residents and institutions in Kaiganaine Village, Mikundi Dispensary, Mikundi Market, Chieni, Maganjo Village, Maganjo Secondary School, Gatunai Village, Mikundi Village, as well as users of Safaricom and Airtel network boosters, will experience the outage.
In Murang’a County, the scheduled maintenance will affect Machegecha, Kariua and Kariti. Areas that will go without power include Machegecha Primary, Machegecha Secondary, Kariti Market, Kariti Secondary, Kariua Mutitu, Kirirwa, Nguku and the neighbouring villages.
In Kiambu County, the blackout will hit part of Rironi and areas around KBC. Residents and businesses in Kiroe, Ngecha, Gitangu, Mahinga, Tilisi, Nduma, Mirithu, Swatch, Luquman Petrol Station and the nearby surroundings will also be affected.
