Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Fred Matiang’I now claims the attacks going on in Kerio Valley is not a matter of cattle rustling but activities being carried out by outlawed organizations.

Matiang’i has said that as a result, the government is now going to use force and fire to end the menace in Elgeyo Marakwet, once and for all.

“It’s no longer a matter of cattle rustling. We are going to apply a new level of force and fire to end the menace in Tot, Kerio Valley,” Matiang’i said.

The outspoken CS has also promised to declare the Pokot Warriors and movement as an out-lawed organization after seeking authority from the National Security Council.

“Next week, I will be meeting the National Security Council and I will be seeking their authorization to announce the Pokot Warriors and Pokot Movement as an outlawed organization the same way we did to the MRC and other terror groups,” Matiang’i said.

His sentiments come after 13 students and two teachers of Tot High school were injured while their driver died after they were attacked by armed bandits.

The CS who responded to the attack this morning said the principal of the school violated the government policies by allowing students to be transported past 6:30 pm in the evening.

While singling out Tot Day Secondary School, Matiang’i says the attack was avoidable if the school principal adhered to government policies adding that the principal will be arrested and prosecuted.

“The attack we had on the school bus in Tot last night ought not to have happened in the first place because that school was in violation of government policy of moving children beyond 6 O’clock at night. The attack took place at 10:30 pm,” he said.
