Deputy President William Ruto has broken his silence over Jubilee’s plan to partner with ODM ahead of 2022 general election.

In a series of statements Ruto made on Saturday 19, the DP accused Jubilee of forming tribal alliances after breaking the ruling party.

Wamevunja chamaa ya Jubilee ya kitaifa. Sasa wanataka kila mtu aende aanzishe chama ya kabila yake,” Ruto said.

Speaking during a UDA popularisation tour of West Pokot county, Ruto told of Jubilee leaders over the said partnership insisting that his party UDA is a nationwide political outfit.

Sisis tunawaambia, hustler nation ya Kenya haiwezi kutoshea kwa chama ya kabila fulani na haiwezi kutoshea kwa chama ya kona fulani,” Ruto fired.

The DP further reiterated that the plan to have a Jubilee – ODM formation would not deter UDA from its agenda.

“Tuko chonjo. Tuko radar. Tuko na chama ya mahustler,” Ruto reiterated.

On Thursday, Jubilee and ODM officials convened a meeting to kickstart the 2022 pre-election deal.

The meeting which was held at a hotel in Kiambu county was attended by Jubilee Sec Gen Raphael Tuju and his ODM counterpart Edwin Sifuna.

Also in attendance was ODM chairman John Mbadi, Jubilee vice-chairman David Murathe, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Igembe North MP Maoka Maore

The alleged alliance between Jubilee and ODM has caused tension within the ruling party with members of Jubilee giving different opinions on the pre-election pact.

Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui who has called for the removal of party deputy chair Murathe and Sec Gen Tuju termed the deal as a survival stunt created to divert attention.

According to Kinyanjui, Jubilee should sort its domestic issues before making pacts.

“As a staunch member, we have watched with dismay a party we believe in being hijacked by a few with total disregard for its members. This only further complicates the situation,” Kinyanjui said.
