Two more bodies were on Tuesday afternoon retrieved under the rubble in the ongoing rescue operation in Gachie area, Kiambu County.

This comes after one person succumbed to the injuries in the hospital early this morning while receiving treatment.

One survivor has been rushed to Kiambu Level Five Hospital with serious injuries and the other nine admitted to different hospitals within Kiambaa.

The total number of bodies rescued from the rubble of the five-storey building now stands at 10.

The continuing mission is to rescue five people trapped in the building, one of them being a lady who was vending tea to the workers constructing the building.

The operation is being led by KDF soldiers as police move the bodies from the scene to the mortuary.

The rescue team is yet to access all floors and get to account for everyone.

A witness revealed that those who are trapped were painters and welders who were working on the building’s windows.

Kiambu Governor, James Nyoro, says they had written a letter to the owner of the building instructing to stop the construction.

Nyoro says they will follow the matter to the letter to make sure justice is served.

The owner of the house who is said to be working in the government is still at large.
