Tragedy! Man jumps to death at KRA office

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has confirmed the death of a man who jumped from the second floor of its office building at the Lake Basin Mall in Kisumu on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
In a statement issued shortly after the incident, KRA said the middle-aged man sustained serious injuries after the fall and later succumbed.

KRA described the event as tragic and expressed sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased.
“Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) wishes to confirm that an unfortunate incident occurred today, Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the KRA offices located at the Lake Basin Mall in Kisumu. A middle-aged man jumped from the second floor of the building, sustained serious injuries and succumbed,” the statement read.
Investigations launched
The authority said the matter has already been reported to the relevant authorities, and investigations are underway to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
“The matter has been reported to the relevant authorities, and investigations are currently underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident,” KRA stated.

It added that it is working closely with law enforcement agencies to support the ongoing investigations.
“KRA is fully cooperating with law enforcement officers to facilitate the ongoing investigations,” the authority said.
The authority also took the opportunity to remind members of the public to report any suspicious activities, concerns, or incidents through its official reporting channels.
KRA did not disclose the identity of the deceased or details about what might have caused the incident, saying investigations are still in progress. “KRA deeply regrets this incident and conveys heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” the statement said.
The incident has drawn concern among Kisumu residents as authorities continue to examine the events leading to the man’s death.
