Thursday blackout to affect parts of 8 counties – Kenya Power

Kenya Power (KP) has announced a planned power outage affecting several areas across eight counties scheduled for Thursday, August 7, 2025.
The utility firm has said the scheduled maintenance is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance power supply reliability through system upgrades and routine infrastructure maintenance.
In a statement released on the X official account on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Kenya Power confirmed that the outages will occur between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, urging affected customers to make necessary arrangements in advance.
Nairobi area
In Nairobi County, parts of Waiyaki Way and Loresho will be affected, including Mountain View Estate, Kabete Technical Training Institute, Kangemi, Kianda School, Nairobi Water, and Loresho Ridge. Other affected areas include Vet Lab, Musa Gitau Road, Kaptagat Road, and commercial establishments like Qaribu Inn Hotel and Silicon Craft.
“Hello. Please be advised that the following areas will be on planned maintenance tomorrow, 07.08.2025,” the statement read.
In Kajiado County, residents in parts of Kiserian, particularly along Pipeline Road, and in areas such as Olorien, Sholinke, Emasho, and Citam Kadolta, will experience the outage.

In Kericho County, the outage will affect Laliat Quarry and surrounding areas, including Ainamoi Sub-District Hospital, Taiwet Tea Factories, and Chepisom Market.
Meanwhile, in Nyeri County, power supply will be disrupted in Kamacharia and Kamune, covering markets such as Kamacharia, Iruri, Thuita, and Kagumoini, as well as Mananga, Kora, Kandabibi, and nearby coffee factories.
Tana River County, Hola, Bura, Wenje and Masalani areas and adjacent customers are expected to experience power outages from 10.00 am to 2 pm.
In Meru County, a wide section of Meru County, including Thimangiri, Giaki, and Kwa Ng’ombe, will also experience power outages. Institutions such as Marvis Petroleum, Kiambogo C/Fact, Mulathakari Girls, Meru Brook School, and numerous markets are on the list.
Mombasa and Kwale Counties
In Mombasa, parts of Kizingo will be affected, including Aga Khan Hospital, SDA Church Kizingo, and Shenhai Restaurant.
In neighbouring Kwale County, the outage will affect Diani Beach Road, impacting businesses such as Carrefour, Swahili Beach, and Chandarana Supermarket.
