Tears of joy for woman who cried uncontrollably after her daughter was swapped from national school in Murang’a to community school in Nyanza

Rachel Amogola, the woman who was captured on video weeping uncontrollably while kneeling yesterday can now afford a smile after the government through the Ministry of Education reversed her swapping of her daughter from Mugoiri Girls High School, a national school in Murang’a to Wambasa Secondary School in Siaya County.

The mother, who looked cool and composed today narrated how they left the school at around 8 in the evening dejected and devastated.

‘We had a sleepless night and woke up very early and went to Jogoo house with my daughter Hilda Anatwa where her issue was resolved,” she narrated.

At the, the Ministry of Education offices, it was revealed to the mother that a person identified as Florence Achola conducted the transfer.

She claimed that she does not to know the person with such a name adding that she had not sought transfer for her daughter to any school maintaining that it may have been done by someone with an ill motive.

The parent could not hide her joy when she arrived at Mugoiri Girls High school and was reassured of her daughter’s chance in the school as they moved from one desk to the next as the girl was being cleared.

“I am so happy to see my daughter walk to class after her admission was cleared even after being faced by those challenges, I thank God” The mother said.

The mother apologized to the school and to the public for any inconveniences caused saying she became emotional as it was painful to watch her daughter’s future going down the drain.

“My apologies to Mugoiri girls and I hold no grudge to neither the school nor the ministry and all I wish is for my daughter get her education here in Mugoiri,” the mother said.

Susan Mundia, Mugoiri Girls Principal said that they were having several such cases yesterday and they tried to handle the matters through the county education office.

She also urged the Ministry of Education to be careful so as to avoid such incidences in future.

Susan promised to ensure that the stay of Hildah Anatwa will be smooth to ensure she gets quality education without any intimidations.

“I want to assure all of you that she will be among the more than 1500 girls and she will be treated just like the rest” Susan said.

The County Director of Education Anne Kiilu asked parents to ensure they follow up on any transfers made and settle to one of the schools so as to avoid lack of chances for their children.

“There were so many parents who went out seeking for transfers from the ministry, and most of them forgot to do a follow up and that’s why we end up having such issues” Anne added
