A drug trafficker has been jailed to serve life imprisonment and fined Ksh20 million.

Anne Achieng Anyanga had been charged with trafficking psychotropic drug valued at Ksh6.8 million in a Ugandan registered motor vehicle in 2016.

Chief magistrate Martha Mutuku slapped her with the sentence after considering the value of the substance and evidence produced in court.

“I have considered the mitigation and the value of the drugs in question ,i herby order the accused to pay a fine of Ksh20m in addition to serve life sentence,” Mutuku ruled.

The narcotics were ferried in a motor vehicle with Uganda customized registration number belonging to Modern 5 of Modern Coast Bus Company.

She had been nabbed at Naivasha on Nakuru-Nairobi highway with another lady who had been charged in court.

While sentencing the accused, the magistrate found that the evidence presented by the prosecution was consistent and watertight and thus the case was proved beyond doubt.

She dismissed the defence of the accused person as unsatisfactory.

Achieng’s co-accused Elizabeth Akinyi was acquitted after the court found that no evidence presented by the prosecution linked her with the commission of the offence before court.
