Betting firm SportPesa through its SportPesa Foundation has donated medical equipment and appliances to the Kilifi County Referral hospital in Kilifi town.

While receiving the donations, the hospital management led by Dr. Kennedy Miriti said that the equipment will go a long way in uplifting maternal healthcare in the county.

Among the equipment donated were 40 single crank maternity ward beds with drip stands, two patient trolleys, 6 delivery beds, two procedure trolleys, 2 patient monitors, 2 fetal dopplers, 4 finger pulse oximeters and 4 vital sign monitors.

The hospital matron Mildred Sanita said that the equipment will also make service provision become better since expectant mothers will seize sharing beds at the maternity.

Kilifi County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for health Charles Dadu thanked the partnership between the County government and the foundation saying that the more equipment provided to the hospital the better service delivery to residents.

SportPesa Foundation ambassador and boxing champion Fatuma Zarika urged mothers to focus and pursue their goals even after giving birth saying that she was a good example of women who have beaten all odds to succeed.

The foundation representative Esther Kang’ethe said that they have laid down plans to partner with governments inorder to ensure Kenya reduces maternal deaths.
