Uasin Gishu Woman Representative, Gladys Boss Shollei, claims that someone bent on ruining her reputation leaked her private pictures showing her in the company of her alleged partner.

The pictures circulated widely on Facebook and Twitter Friday, showing the lawmaker in what appears like a vacation with her said-lover, whose details remain scanty.

A section of online users wondered how fast the woman rep moved on from her former relationship with her ex-husband, former Standard Group CEO, Sam Shollei, who has since gotten married to a younger woman after he was granted divorce from Gladys on January 8, 2020 by a Nairobi court.

Sam had filed for divorce from Gladys on September 6, 2019 after 25 years of being married to the former Judiciary registrar. The complainant cited desertion and irretrievable breakdown of their relationship as the key reasons for seeking permanent separation.

And, two weeks after she was granted divorce, pictures of Gladys in the arms of another man have surfaced, raising questions among online users on whether the man was in the picture even when she was married to Sam.

Gladys denies, saying “someone is out to hurt my reputation”.

In a press conference held at Poa Place Resort in Eldoret on Friday 8pm, the legislator said she won’t direct her energies responding to her image-attacker, but would, instead, divert the effort to “serving the people of Uasin Gishu County and Kenyans at large”.

Below is what she said in a 2-minute and 33 seconds’ press conference:

“Going forward, I will continue to serve my God, protect and raise my children, and to work for the people of Uasin Gishu County. Recently, I have been threatened with destruction of my character and image by a person known to me.

“I will, however, never respond to them, or do the same to them because I was never raised to be an evil person. I have seen that they are making good of those threats. Those photographs out there reveal no improper conduct on my part. In terms of using them to destroy me, I believe that no human being can destroy me unless my God will it, or if their God, which they are not.

“No amount of smear campaign will deter me from serving Kenyans and the great people of Uasin Gishu County. I thank God that I attended the walking on fire training, which trains me to stay focused and never look at the fire which can consume me. Therefore, I shall not be consumed.

“Today, I continued with my work as a legislator. I appeared on Citizen TV and KTN, where I spoke about the issues that bother my people, including [low] maize prices, unemployment, [low] milk prices and the health problems facing Kenyans. That, I shall remain focused doing. I shall remain true to what I am supposed to be doing. You will never hear me commenting on this issue again. I do not want it to take my focus from the work that I am supposed to be doing. This is not the first challenge I am facing in my life, and it is probably not the last. I remain undeterred. I remain focused. God bless you. Thank you.”
