Singer Bahati unveiled as Jubilee Party’s Mathare MP aspirant

Gospel musician Kevin Kioko popularly known as Bahati will be making his first political stab in the August 9 elections.

Bahati will be contesting for Mathare MP’s position on the ruling Jubilee Party ticket.

The music star was today, Friday welcomed to the party at its headquarters in Pangani, Nairobi.

At the headquarters, Bahati announced that he was a Jubilee Party member and also supports Azimio la Umoja political movement that has fronted ODM leader Raila Odinga to contest for presidency in the upcoming polls.

“I am a member of Jubilee Party and the Azimio la Umoja movement,” he said.

Bahati had earlier released a hit song in collaboration with ODM leader Raila Odinga dubbed Fire and which seeks to popularize Odinga’s bid to State House.

Bahati will be joining a long list of musicians who have decided to venture into politics.

Among others is the popular Kikuyu gospel artiste Loise Kim who will be vying for Kiambu Women Representative’s position.

Others are Smith Mwatia, alias Rufftone who is said to be eying Nairobi Senator position currently held by Johnson Sakaja. Sakaja has declared interest in vying for the city governor’s position.
