Residents of Buoye sub-location in Kisumu woke up to a rude shock after a 70 year old watchman was killed and equipment worth Ksh115,000 stolen in Kisumu.

According to Kisumu County Police Commander Samuel Anampiu, the matter took place at a construction site in Buoye sub-location, Kolwa Central.

The alleged incident of death and robbery with violence occurred at an unknown time of between 22:00 HRS and 18:00HRS on Tuesday, June 8.

He told People daily that the matter was reported to them at 9:45 am by Walter Nyambogi the director of Victone security company.

That his watchman Charles Okumu 70 was found attacked and killed by unknown persons.

“The unknown people also managed to steal a welding machine, welding rods, grinder, cutting disc and three curtains of paint all valued at Ksh115,000,” he said.

The police boss also informed us that the robbers gained entry by jumping over the perimeter wall and stabbed the watchman with a sharp object before breaking into the store.

The scene he said was visited by scenes of crime officers and DCI team from Kisumu East.

However, no arrests nor recovery was made.

The body of the deceased was moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching And Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) awaiting autopsy.
