Senator Sigei questions Muturi’s respect for confidentiality after dropping State secrets like hot tea

Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei has launched a scathing critique against former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi, accusing him of breaching confidentiality and mishandling sensitive state information following his dismissal from the cabinet.
In a television interview on Monday, April 7, 2025, Sigei expressed dismay at Muturi’s recent public statements, suggesting they have tarnished his reputation, particularly within the legal community.
“My reflections about the statements that the former Attorney General and the former CS, it’s such an unfortunate situation for Kenya especially to hear the former Attorney General making such comments,” Sigei said.
“From that comment and his behaviour and utterances, on the one hand he might be thinking that he is making very good political statements but he has lost some tremendous respect that the office had given him.”
Sigei emphasized the importance of maintaining confidentiality regarding state secrets, especially for individuals who have held high-ranking public positions.
“When you get into office there is what is referred to as official secrets, confidentiality of information. Information that you get courtesy of your official capacity,” he explained.
“Whether or not they are true or not true is something that he should, in a bid to protect that office and to protect yourself as a public officer because a public officer by the way becomes a public officer for the entirety of the period you have saved.”

The Bomet senator also questioned Muturi’s credibility in claiming President Ruto is incompetent, given their long history of working together.
“For him to tell us that William Ruto is a very incompetent president and he served him as a cabinet secretary…he equally served under William Ruto as the deputy president when he was in parliament. So it’s so unfortunate that we are getting such utterances from him,” Sigei stated.
He further echoed Ruto’s assertion that Muturi’s dismissal was due to absenteeism, stating, “He has been a privileged kid for a very long time and he definitely didn’t expect that he would be where he is now. The president told us he sacked himself, you can’t absent yourself from duties.”
Muturi’s exposé
In a stunning exposé, former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi lifted the lid on what he claimed was deep-seated corruption and fear-mongering within President William Ruto’s administration.
In a no-holds-barred interview with NTV’s Fixing the Nation on Friday, April 4, 2025, Muturi accused the president of hypocrisy, corruption, and an iron-fisted grip on his Cabinet.
Muturi described President Ruto as a man with two faces – one who publicly condemns corruption while privately engaging in corrupt dealings worth billions.
“He is quite a dangerous character. I think Ruto is unfit for the position of president. I’ve no bitterness, this is my assessment. When I watched him talk to members of my Cabinet, saying ‘I don’t want to see corruption,’ I wondered who is this talking?” Muturi remarked.
“Yes, he (Ruto) is absolutely, very, irredeemably corrupt,” he added.

Muturi did not mince words when summing up his assessment of the President.
“William Ruto is a person with two personalities. The William Ruto that presents himself to the public is completely different from the one that sits behind in the office and crafts stuff. That kind of person is very dangerous, and I think William Ruto is unfit to hold the position of the President of the Republic of Kenya. I have sadly come to that conclusion, and I have no bitterness because it is my own assessment,” he said.
Ruto, addressing Muturi’s dismissal from the Cabinet at Sagana State Lodge on Monday, March 31, 2025, ahead of his Mt Kenya tour, claimed his firing was due to absenteeism.
“I gave him a ministerial position, then, in the process, he went on strike, skipping Cabinet meetings. So, am I the one who fired him, or did he fire himself?” Ruto asked rhetorically.
