Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has urged Kenyan youth living abroad to return home and invest in the country.

In a post on his Instagram page on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Salasya reflected on life abroad and the opportunities available back home. The lawmaker shared that life abroad, particularly in America, often feels empty despite material comforts.

He observed that people can spend their entire lives working to afford cars and houses, only to pass away without leaving a lasting impact unless they are extremely wealthy.

The MP encouraged Kenyans living overseas to return home with the wealth they have accumulated, invest in land, and set up businesses that can benefit future generations.

He emphasised that Kenya offers beautiful opportunities for investment and a meaningful life, contrasting it with what he described as the unfulfilling lifestyle abroad. He urged the youth to make Kenya their retirement home and to contribute to the country’s economic growth rather than remaining slaves to a foreign system.

“Leo nafika Texas Dallas alafu nirudi home Kenya. Kenya is a beautiful land where any person can invest their wealth. Hapa America life makes no sense. Wewe ishi miaka yako, have a car, a nice house and die and go be forgotten, nothing more unless you are super rich,” he stated.

Adding;

“I am challenging all Americans and Kenyans to return home with all the wealth they have made, buy land for their generations in Kenya and make Kenya their home of retirement. Na mulete pesa Kenya, mufungue makampuni Kenya. Hii lifestyle ya America sijapenda, unakaa slave.”

The lawmaker appealed during his ongoing international tour, which began in late November and includes stops in London and several cities across the United States.

The MP’s tour is aimed at engaging with investors, development partners, and the Kenyan diaspora to attract investments that can boost national development. Salasya emphasised that these engagements will provide an opportunity to share his broader presidential vision of a just, inclusive, and economically vibrant Kenya.

During the tour, Salasya plans to meet diaspora communities, international partners, and potential investors. He highlighted that the discussions will focus on attracting sustainable investments that create meaningful employment opportunities, especially for young people in Mumias East.

In addition to investment discussions, Salasya revealed that the partnership supporting the tour will sponsor this year’s edition of his annual youth sports tournament, the PK Salasya Classic Cup. The tournament aims to nurture talent, promote unity, and transform the lives of young people.
