MPs and MCAs allied to Deputy President William Ruto in Kitui County have accused ODM party national chairman John Mbadi of insincerity for rejecting calls for amendments on Building Bridges Initiative proposals ahead of the upcoming referendum.
The Suba South MP on Saturday said that the ODM party won’t allow DP Ruto and his allies to sabotage the implementation of the BBI report through the push for amendments.
Mbadi said time for collecting views on BBI was over and that there is no point in Tangatanga faction demanding changes in the report having rejected it from the beginning.
Led by Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai, the leaders argued that the report was 60 percent faulty and ought to be amended before implementation.
“60 percent of the clauses do not reflect the wishes of the majority of Kenyans . Therefore it’s in bad taste for Mbadi to say there’s no room for dialogue over the contentious sections,” said Mbai.
They spoke during a press conference in Kitui Town.
The lawmaker vowed that DP Ruto’s hustler movement will lead Kenyans of similar views in rejecting the report.
He also revealed DP Ruto’s planned visit to Kitui next week and called on anti-hustler movement factions to desist from disrupting Ruto’s tour of the region.
“Let’s prepare to welcome Ruto to Kitui so that our youth can benefit from assorted equipment as they strive to earn a livelihood in the backdrop of widespread joblessness,” added Mbai.
