The Registrar of Political Parties has gazetted leadership changes in Ford Kenya in a move to initiate the replacement of Moses Wetangula as the party leader.

In the notice published on June 8, 2020, the parties registrar, Ann Nderitu, moved to confirm Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi as the new Ford Kenya party leader.

Ms Josephine Maungu will also be confirmed as the new National Organizing Secretary, to replace Chris Mandu Mandu.

“Any person with written submissions concerning the intended change by the political party, shall within seven days from the date herein, deposit them with the Registrar of Political Parties,” said the gazette notice.

Ford Kenya has recently been embroiled in a leadership tussle with Bungoma Senator Wetangula claiming changes effected by the National Executive Council were illegal.

Last week, the National Executive Council (NEC) members met in a Nairobi hotel where they resolved to oust Wetangula as the party leader.

Wetangula quickly fired back, accusing the NEC members of holding an illegal meeting.

The drama escalated to the Registrar of Political Parties where the two quarrelling factions sought to register a change of party officials.

Reacting to the Ford Kenya leadership wrangles, Wetangula’s ally, Moses Wetangula, accused opposition leader Raila Odinga of being behind the senator’s troubles.

But the Orange Democratic Movement dismissed Wetangula’s comments.
