Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga’s son, Raila Odinga Junior, has told off online critics scolding him after he demanded accountability on funds raised by activist Hanifa Adan to support anti-government protest victims.
It all started when Hanifa, on Thursday, September 5, 2024, shared an audit report of the funds that had been raised through the online fundraising platform M-Changa, which was questioned by a section of netizens, among them being Raila Junior.
Junior on critics
Taking to his official X account on Friday, September 6, 2024, Raila Junior told the critics to keep off, stating that his message on Hanifa’s audit report was simple, arguing that all Kenyans had contributed in raising the funds.
“Kwendeni huko nyinyi na kiherehere zenyu ati? My message is simple: #WeAllRaised,” Raila Junior stated.

Hanifa’s audit
Moments after Hanifa posted the audit report explaining how the over Ksh30 million that was raised had been spent, Raila Junior, in a subsequent post, tagged the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), asking about the minimum threshold for financial statements and audits in regards to publicly solicited funds.
“Dear @ICPAK_Kenya We are seeing many questions being asked on the minimum threshold for financial statements and audits in regards to publicly solicited funds. Kindly provide guidance,” Raila Junior stated.
His statement did not sit well with Hanifa, who responded by urging the businessman to send his own auditors to conduct a fresh audit.
“I will not post the victims personal information for their protection. I already gave you and Asamoh plus other bloggers the freedom to bring in your own auditors. Please bring them, and I’ll share all the documents for auditing. You’re rich enough, bring the auditors,” Hanifa said.
Netizens supporting Hanifa descended on Raila Junior, with a section asking the activist to confirm the amount the former Prime Minister’s son had contributed so that he can be refunded.
The criticism prompted Raila Junior to respond to Hanifa, clarifying that he had only tagged the statutory body to confirm the minimum threshold for a document to be a certified audit.
“You misunderstood, I’ve not mentioned you, @Honeyfarsafi, or the victims; God rest their souls; I also contributed, and no one told me because of my ‘status’ I shouldn’t. I asked @ICPAK_Kenya what’s the minimum threshold for a document to be a certified audit,” he said.
