PS Omollo praises Kenyans’ passion for Harambee Stars ahead of Madagascar clash

Speaking on Friday, August 22, 2025, in Baba Dogo, Nairobi, Omollo said the wave of patriotism sweeping across the country is a clear demonstration of how football continues to unite Kenyans beyond political, ethnic, and social lines.
He noted that the government, through various agencies, has invested in ensuring fans enjoy a safe and memorable experience as they rally behind the national team.
Fans show resilience
According to Omollo, the resilience and determination displayed by Kenyans, especially during public screenings and community fan zones, reflects the growing belief in the team’s ability to make history.
He said that despite economic challenges, Kenyans have continued to fill stadiums, purchase merchandise, and follow matches closely actions that have boosted players’ morale.

“The spirit of togetherness shown by Kenyans is remarkable. It gives our players the confidence to push harder on the pitch, knowing they carry the hopes of millions of supporters,” Omollo remarked.
He added that the government has partnered with county administrations and private sponsors to set up secure and accessible fan parks in different towns, ensuring that no Kenyan is left out of the experience.
Government support pledged
The PS assured Kenyans that the state will continue backing Harambee Stars through improved infrastructure, logistical support, and enhanced security during international matches.
He also appealed to fans to maintain discipline while cheering, stressing that good conduct reflects positively on the country’s image abroad.
Omollo expressed optimism that Harambee Stars’ upcoming clash with Madagascar would mark a turning point for the national team’s continental ambitions.
“This is more than a game; it is about our pride, our unity, and our determination as a people. We are confident the team will rise to the occasion,” he said.
The Harambee Stars are set to face Madagascar today at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, with the winner advancing to the Semi-final qualification round.
