A police corporal was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Landi Mawe, Industrial Area on Tuesday night.

Corporal Mark Kiptui, who was based at the Industrial Area Police station, was shot inside his car in Landi Mawe where he had gone to visit a female friend.

Another man, aged around 26, and who is yet to be identified, was also shot dead during the 10pm incident.

The deceased officer and his friend were accosted by four armed thugs who robbed him of an unknown amount of cash and other personal effects.

The deceased tried to resist, prompting the shooting. He was shot on the head and died on the spot.

The body of the officer was transferred to Kenyatta University Hospital mortuary while that of the unidentified man was taken to the City Mortuary awaiting post-mortem and identification.
