Police to summon MP Orero’s driver after viral Larry Madowo clash

Police have confirmed that they intend to summon the driver involved in the viral road rage incident between Kibra MP Peter Orero and CNN International Correspondent Larry Madowo.
The altercation, which has continued to trend on social media, captured widespread public attention after footage of the exchange surfaced online.
Traffic Commandant Fredrick Ochieng, speaking to a local TV station on Friday, October 10, 2025, said authorities are in the process of tracing the vehicle involved.
He explained that once the registration number is verified, the driver responsible at the time of the incident will be summoned for questioning, after which further action will be taken.
“If we happen to get that clip, then we will get the registration number of the vehicle, and after getting the registration number, we will summon whoever was driving that particular vehicle at that particular time for questioning, and then action will be taken,” Ochieng said.

Ochieng also revealed that a vehicle displaying a diplomatic number plate was reported moving in the wrong direction in a separate but similar incident.
He revealed that investigations have since established that the car was not an official diplomatic vehicle but was using a diplomatic plate illegally.
He added that authorities are continuing to pursue this matter to determine the full circumstances behind the misuse of the plate.
“As I am speaking with you now, there is a diplomatic vehicle that had been sent to us moving in the wrong direction, opposite direction. It so happened that the car was not actually a diplomatic vehicle. It was a diplomatic number plate that was used in a vehicle which was not diplomatic. We are still pursuing that matter,” he said.
The altercation itself erupted during a tense traffic encounter that has since sparked widespread outrage. In the viral video, Orero’s vehicle is seen driving on the wrong side of the road, while Madowo’s car remained in its correct lane and refused to give way, sparking a sharp confrontation.
At one point, Madowo pulled out his phone to record the unfolding incident.
Upon noticing this, Orero, seated in the passenger seat, lashed out at the journalist, instructing him to take the footage to President William Ruto. His driver added to the intensity, heightening the tension in the brief but fiery exchange.
Despite the provocation, Madowo remained composed, responding firmly before the MP’s vehicle drove off, with the driver hurling insults as the cars parted ways.
