Police in Naivasha on Saturday, July 20, recovered a stolen vehicle after a long dramatic chase on the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.

The owner of the vehicle, Michael Kibe, reported the Thursday carjacking incident at the Naivasha Police Station.

Kibe told the law enforcement officers that the vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux, was stolen when his brother was driving it.

“My brother was using the vehicle for commercial purposes, and was lured by three men posing as customers,” said Mr Kibe.

“Upon getting into the pick-up, the three men drugged my brother and abandoned him in a thicket in Nyandarua County. They, thereafter, sped off,” said Mr Kibe.

Mr Kibe’s brother was found unconscious by Good Samaritans, who took him to hospital.

And upon learning of the car-theft, Kibe filed a report at the Naivasha police post.

The cops liaised with the vehicle’s tracking company, who provided regular updates about the location of the pick-up.

The vehicle was tracked to Kayole Estate in Naivasha.

As police tried to get the exact location where the vehicle was last tracked, Mr Kibe spotted the vehicle being driven on one of the feeder roads.

“I raised the alarm and police began to pursue the carjackers,” said Mr Kibe.

On sensing he was being tracked down, the carjacker accelerated.  What followed was a dramatic chase on the busy Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.

Driving at a breakneck speed, the suspect managed to branch off from the main highway, with police hot on his heels.

On realising he was going to be cornered, the suspect hopped out of the vehicle and escaped into a nearby maize plantation.

The vehicle was towed to Naivasha Police Station.

Police say they are looking for the suspects, who carjacked Mr Kibe’s brother.
