A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Kiambaa after being linked to a string of violent robberies that had left residents of Kiambaa and Rweno living in fear.

In a statement shared by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday, August 16, 2025, the arrest followed a tip-off from members of the public. Law enforcement officers from Kiambaa Sub-County cornered the individual in his hideout before escorting him to his house, where a retay falcon pistol was recovered.

“A notorious robbery individual who has been unleashing a reign of terror in Rweno and Kiambaa has finally been smoked out of his hideout in a police raid that also led to the recovery of a retay falcon pistol,” DCI stated.

Investigators believe the weapon had been used in a series of violent incidents. It has been forwarded to the National Forensic Laboratory for ballistic analysis.

“The 26-year-old was cornered by Kiambaa Sub-County law enforcement officers following a tip-off from members of the public. Upon his arrest, he led officers to his house, where a thorough search turned up a retay falcon pistol, suspected to have spat fire in a series of violent robberies,” the agency added.

The individual is currently in custody and will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
