Parts of 4 regions set to experience blackout on July 21

Different areas in four regions will experience power interruptions on Monday, July 21, 2025.
In a notice issued by Kenya Power on Sunday, July 20, 2025, the blackout will affect parts of the Central Rift, Mount Kenya, North Eastern and Coastal regions.
The outage, which is expected to affect activities that depend on electricity, is due to the planned system maintenance.
“Good evening, please note that the following areas will be on scheduled maintenance tomorrow, Monday, 21.07.2025,” Kenya Power announced.
Central Rift
In the Central Rift region, customers in part of Kericho County will be without power from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
According to Kenya Power, the outage will mainly affect parts of Litein Town, Litein Tea Factory, Litein Mission Hospital, Cheborgei Market, Cheplangate Centre, Kericho National Polytechnic, Tebesonik Tea Factory, Cheboin Centre, part of Roret Market and adjacent customers.

Mount Kenya
According to Kenya Power, a section of customers in Nyeri County will experience a power blackout from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The specific areas to be affected include Kiamwangi Coffee Factory, Kwa Ngacha, Kahashu, part of Saigon, Kiaritha-ini Secondary School, Ihwagi Gathima, Ihwagi, Karura Coffee Factory, Karura, Karura Primary School, Eng. Maina, Gathumbi, part of Unjiru, Gikumbo, and Kiandara.
Similarly, the outage will affect Gikumbo Secondary School, Shauri Moyo, Kihuro Primary School, Kihuro, Gaikuyu, Magutu Secondary School, Gaturumo-ini TBC, Kiamigwi Primary School, Ihwagi Secondary School, Ihwagi Coffee Factory, Gatondo, Gatondo Secondary School, Itundu, Kariki TBC, Chehe TBC, Kiawaiguru TBC, Kiarage TBC, Kangiri TBC, Itundu Secondary School, Gachugu-ina TBC, Gathehu Mkt, Gathehu TBC, Gathehu Secondary School, Giakaibei Githima, Ragati Pri Sch, Safaricom Boosters, Airtel Boosters and adjacent customers.
In Kirinyaga County, residents in Mukarara Market, Gatugura, Kimunye Market, Kimunye Tea Factory, Kavote Market and adjacent customers. Bokoli Market, Bokli Dispensary, Bukembe Market, Chebesi Secondary School, Matulo and adjacent customers will experience the blackout from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Northeastern
In the Northeastern region, customers in part of Kiambu County will be affected by the planned outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The specific areas include parts of Mangu Road, Mpesa Foundation, Kilimambogo Millers, behind TIBS, White Sisters, Ngoingwa Classic, Family Gardens, PCEA, Kisiwa, Mpesa Foundation, Karibaribi, Kawira, Makwa Boys, Makwa Dispensary, Makwa, Magumu, Gakui S/Centre and adjacent customers.
Coast Region
In the notice, Kenya Power stated that the planned outage will affect customers in parts of Taita Taveta County from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The areas include the whole of Bura Mission, Ngami, Mnamu, Tungulu, Mlughu, Barawa and adjacent customers.
