Govt announces paid internship opportunities at KRA

The National government has advertised paid internship opportunities for graduates in different faculties at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

In an advert posted by the Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura on Thursday, December 5, 2024, via his official X account, the opportunities are both for degree and diploma graduates.

According to KRA, degree holders will receive a monthly stipend of Ksh 25,000, while diploma holders will earn Ksh18,000, both subject to statutory deductions.

In addition, the authority stated that the one-year programme which will run from January to December 2025, supports the government’s youth initiative to develop a pool of young talent for the Kenyan labour market.

“In support of the Government’s Youth Initiative to develop a pool of young talent for the Kenyan Labour Market, KRA is seeking applications from fresh Bachelor’s Degree and Diploma Graduates for its January to December 2025 Internship Programme. The programme aims at providing the Youth with an opportunity to acquire practical skills in their respective areas of specialization in partial fulfilment of their degree programme.

“The Monthly Stipend payable is Kshs. 25,000 (Degree holder) and Kshs. 18,000 (Diploma holder) and is subject to statutory deductions,” KRA announced.

Opportunities

The internship opportunities offered at KRA in various areas of specialization, including finance, accounting, economics, statistics, data analytics, mathematics, supply chain management, human resource management, marketing and communication, international relations, diplomacy, public relations, media studies, photography, videography and film production.

Others are animation, television & radio, writing & publishing, digital media, journalism, mass media & communication, screenwriting & editing, music supervision, ICT, BBIT, hospitality, records management, records & archives, library & information science, security & safety, security management, criminology, criminal justice, forensics, business administration, business management, project management, monitoring & evaluation.

The authority also advertised opportunities in counselling psychology, occupational health,  disaster management, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, land economics, property management,  quantity survey, actuarial science, transport & logistics, fleet management, law, education, chemistry, and analytical chemistry.

Requirement

According to KRA, the candidate must be a Kenyan Citizen aged not more than 35 years by the next birthday and must have graduated with a first Degree (undergraduate), or Diploma from a recognized institution between January 2023 and December 2024.

Must be available full-time for the twelve-month duration of the program and should not have undertaken any other internship or exposed to work experience in their area of specialization, after graduation.

KRA further directed interested and qualified candidates to visit the authority’s official website at https://shorturl.at/a6FIh and follow the procedure for application.

Meanwhile, KRA asked applicants to submit their applications online before Monday, December 23, 2024, adding that the authority does not guarantee employment after completion of the Internship program.
