Ogolla reveals hidden plan in Kamket’s remarks on rigging 2027 poll

Lawyer Steve Ogolla has said that Kenyans should be able to decode more from what Tiaty MP William Kamket intended when he said they would rig the 2027 poll for Ruto.

Speaking during an interview with one of the local TV Stations on Monday, August 4, 2025, where he took the opportunity to bash the MP, Ogolla warned that such remarks are dangerous.

He said they could be part of a wider plan to frustrate the opposition or weaken public faith in democracy.

Strong condemnation

Ogolla said the words used by Kamket must not be taken lightly.

“The utterances by Hon Kamket must be condemned again, using the strongest words possible,” Ogolla said.

He explained that such messages are designed to instil fear in the public.

“These things are being said to demoralise Kenyans and the opposition,” he continued.

“They want them to believe that they have already lost or even cornered them.”

Ogolla also questioned the logic behind declaring victory years ahead of the vote.

“I mean, you can never call this election two years before the poll. It is not even possible.”

He said that the electoral body has shown signs of learning from its past mistakes.

“IEBC is very keen on building its reputation,” he added.

Reading between the lines

Ogolla urged Kenyans to be careful when listening to political leaders.

He said people must look beyond what is said on the surface.

“Apart from calling out these remarks by Hon Kamket, it is also good to understand the context in which a leader speaks,” he said.

“Sometimes they speak with the intention of annoying Kenyans.”

Ogolla finished by saying that the public should treat such comments with caution.

He called on leaders to help bring the country together, not divide it through careless speeches.

The development comes amid concern that the NCIC has become toothless and that it pretends to act when a leader who doesn’t support the government talks vulgarly.

This is not the first time allies of William Ruto are appearing to chest-thump as far as the 2027 poll outcome is concerned.
