Marriet Achieng’, a partial orphan from Kipsongo slums within the outskirts of Kitale town, who scored 404 marks at Chetoto Primary School shocked many when she opted to sell one of her kidneys to finance her secondary school education.

The 15-year-old girl told K24 Digital that her mother, a hairdresser cannot afford to raise St. Mary’s Girls High School Bomet school fees.

She said her desire to further her studies and achieve her dreams could not be realized without school fees and therefore resorted to selling one of her kidneys.

“I have no other options on how to raise school fees. What is at my disposal right now is my kidney,” Achieng’ said.

Asked how she could sell her organ, the girl said she is ready to look for a buyer and that she is willing to go through the surgical procedure to see her kidney removed.

“I’m not worried about the procedure of removing it. My interest is to see that I get my secondary education school fees,” she added.

Her mother Joyce Achieng’ said she was worried by her daughter’s decision and that she has been having sleepless nights thinking of how to raise the school fees.

“From the day I received my daughter’s impressive results, I have not known peace. I have been thinking of where to get my child’s school fees,” Achieng’ said.

This comes just a day after another Form Two student at Holy Trinity Secondary school Saboti took a cock to school to offset 34,000 shillings school fees.
