Wajir Woman Rep Fatuma Gedi has come out to give her side of the story following a video that went viral in 2019. The clip was purportedly showing her engaging in a sexual act.

Speaking on the matter, Gedi pointed fingers at some unnamed male politicians whom she accused of being behind the video. She said that the politicians released the video to tarnish her public image.

The lawmaker said that though the video was meant to bring her down, her star in politics has continued to shine brighter.

“Some men sat down and paid a lot of money to have that video created so that they can bring me down,” Gedi told the Sunday Standard.

“There is a God above and he refused to bring me down. Instead, after that video, my star started going up.”

Though Gedi insists that the video did not affect her public image, she admits that the clip tormented her adding that she is worried about her children ever coming across the clip.

“It is not something that you wish for any woman. Every time I speak about that video I get emotional,” she added.

In a previous event, the lawmaker accused MPs Abdihakim Mohamed (Fafi), Rehema Jaldesa (Isiolo County), Aden Keynan (Eldas) and Wangui Ngirici (Kirinyaga County) of being behind the tape.

Her statement about the sex tape comes at a time when she hit the headlines with claims that she had evidence to prove that Deputy President William Ruto is a seasoned land grabber.

Gedi claimed that DP Ruto had illegally obtained parcels of land in Nairobi, Taita Taveta and Wajir among other regions in the country.

“It is in the public domain including court orders where one William Ruto grabbed land and I have no apology to make. Give me two days and I will bring the details,” she told the National Assembly.
