He reminded the police of their duty to ensure that all motorists observe traffic rules to reduce the risk of road accidents. The festive season is usually marked by increased movement, with many people travelling to their rural homes to celebrate with family and friends.

“May I state that the festive season is fast approaching. This is usually the most challenging period, requiring a more vibrant approach in matters of security and matters and traffic flows,” Kanja said.

According to IG Kanja, this often leads to hurried driving, traffic congestion, and a rise in road accidents.

He urged drivers to plan their trips early, avoid speeding, and follow all road safety regulations. IG Kanja further encouraged officers to remain steadfast in serving the nation, maintaining professionalism and discipline in line with the National Police Service motto, ‘Service with Dignity’.
