Mudavadi: Ruto’s hard decisions today will win him 2027 election

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, has expressed confidence that President William Ruto will be re-elected in the 2027 general election.
Speaking at a local TV station on Sunday night, July 14, 2025, the CS cited President Ruto’s commitment to making bold and necessary decisions for the country’s long-term stability and growth.
Speaking during a televised interview, Mudavadi said that while some of the policies being implemented by the current administration may appear unpopular now, they are critical for laying the foundation of future progress.
“If you were to ask me as an individual, my position is that President Ruto is going to be reelected because he is making the hard decisions now, and by the time we get to the election, the fruits and benefits of the tougher decisions being made now will begin to manifest themselves,” he said.
Furthermore, he dismissed critics, stating that Ruto will be a one-term president, as the decision will be made through the ballot in the next elections.
“The only time that this decision (one-term presidency) is made is when we get to the ballot,” he added.
President Ruto
This comes days after President Ruto vowed to deal with those plotting to oust him from power unconstitutionally.
Speaking at the Kilimani Police Station after inspecting a police housing project on July 9, 2025, President Ruto said that he will not allow anyone to use violence to remove him from the nation’s top seat.
He dared anyone to attempt the move before the 2027 General Election, noting that he can no longer maintain his silence and “enough is enough.”

“I want to tell those characters giving us lectures that they can change this administration using violence and unlawful means before 2027; let them try,” he roared.
“This is a democratic nation, and Kenyans will choose the nation’s leadership through the ballot. We cannot choose leadership through violence. That is not going to happen in this country.”
The president further fired at his detractors, questioning why his regime is being violently attacked while his predecessors did not receive similar backlash.
“They are telling me about Moi…he was a president, the same way Kibaki was a president, the same as Uhuru, so where is all this coming from? That is nonsense! Why didn’t they cause chaos during Kibaki’s time or Uhuru’s? Why are you causing this during my time? That needs to stop,” he declared.
