Mudavadi makes special request to IMF

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who also doubles up as the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, has made a special plea to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In a meeting held in the US on Friday, May 9, 2025, Mudavadi said that Kenya is seeking to strengthen its partnership with the global fund.
“Met with senior IMF officials in Washington, DC, led by Mr. @aselassie, Director of the Africa Department, to discuss strengthening Kenya’s partnership with the Fund,” Mudavadi stated.
The Prime CS made a plea for continued dialogue between the IMF and the National Treasury to advance new programme arrangement.
“I emphasized the need for continued dialogue with the National Treasury to advance a new programme arrangement, especially in light of current global and domestic economic pressures. Acknowledging the IMF’s vital role in supporting Kenya’s macroeconomic stability, I underlined the importance of deeper engagement amid reduced concessional financing and global uncertainties such as trade tensions,” he added.
