MP Mutuse discloses why Ruto struggled with stress after taking office

Kibwezi East Member of Parliament Eckomas Mwengi Mutuse has revealed that President William Ruto went through immense stress during his early days in office, attributing it to internal wrangles and poor coordination within the presidency before Kithure Kindiki came into office.
Speaking during a rally in Tharaka Nithi County on Saturday, October 4, 2025, Mutuse praised Kindiki for transforming the leadership atmosphere at the top, saying his calm nature and cooperative approach have brought unity and peace to government operations.

He said that, unlike before, when there was tension and constant misunderstandings, the President now enjoys full support and collaboration from his deputy, which has allowed him to focus on his duties.
“We want to thank the Deputy President, Professor Kithure Kindiki, because in the time he has served, he has truly been a deputy for all Kenyans. He has been a deputy who unites the tribes of this country, and one who helps the President to work effectively. Since Kindiki took office, you have all seen that the President has started working with peace of mind,” he said.

Mutuse said the difference between the current and previous deputy presidency is clearly visible in the government’s performance.
He noted that in the past, the President struggled with unnecessary stress and internal fights that made it hard for him to concentrate on development projects.
He said that period was filled with political sabotage, which caused the Head of State sleepless nights as he battled disunity from within his own government.
“Before that, there was too much gossip and confusion. The President was under a lot of stress during those early days.”

The MP credited Professor Kindiki for helping the President overcome those difficult days, saying he has proved to be a deputy who brings people together rather than divides them.
Mutuse said Kindiki has been instrumental in fostering peace among different communities, working closely with the President to ensure that national development projects are implemented smoothly.
“But this son of yours, Kindiki, has helped him greatly. As we speak today, roads are being built across the country because Kindiki is supporting the President well. The President now has a deputy who helps him rather than gives him problems.”

Mutuse pointed to the government’s commitment to connect every village to electricity as a sign of renewed efficiency.
He claimed that during the tenure of the former deputy president, such promises were hard to fulfil because of constant wrangles that derailed government work.
He told the crowd that the current smooth working relationship between the President and his deputy has enabled the realisation of many projects that once seemed impossible.
“We had promised Kenyans that we would connect electricity to every village, but back then, we had a deputy whose work was only to give the President stress every single day. But now that Kindiki is the Deputy President, every village is being connected to electricity,” Mutuse added.
The legislator further urged residents of Tharaka Nithi to take pride in Kindiki’s role in ensuring government stability, saying he has been a key pillar in helping the President perform his duties effectively.
Mutuse called on the people to spread the message that from the Coast to Nyanza and from Western Kenya to Central, Kenyans have seen the positive change and are now ready to back the President for another term.
“That is why I am asking you, the people of Tharaka Nithi who are here today, to go back to your villages and spread the message everywhere, that from the Coast to Nyanza to Western Kenya, the entire country has agreed that President Ruto should go for another term.”
