Moses Kuria resigns as Ruto’s advisor

Senior advisor in the Council of Economic Advisors, Moses Kuria, has officially announced his resignation from government, bringing an end to his tenure in President William Ruto’s administration, where he served in multiple high-profile roles.
In a post shared on his verified X account on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, Kuria revealed that he had personally met with President Ruto and that the head of state had graciously accepted his decision to step down.
“This evening I have met my boss and my friend, President William Ruto. The president has graciously accepted my decision to resign from government,” Kuria stated.
Kuria, who previously served as the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry for 11 months before being moved to the docket of Public Service, Delivery, and Performance Management for another 9 months, said he was proud of his contribution to the administration’s signature economic blueprint.
“I thank President Ruto for having given me an opportunity to serve as Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry for 11 months; Public Service, Delivery and Performance Management for 9 months; and Senior Economic Advisor for the last 10 months,” he said.

The outspoken former CS noted that as he prepares to pursue personal interests, he remains proud of the legacy he leaves behind—particularly in helping develop the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), the policy on which President Ruto campaigned in 2022.
“As I move on to pursue personal interests, I am proud of the work the President and I did to implement the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which I designed together with the President as our 2022 Electoral Platform,” Kuria stated.
He ended his post with a patriotic sign-off, saying he had all the best intentions for the country.
“Long Live Kenya.”
