Just two days after former Cabinet Secretary for Ministry of Public Service and Human Capital Development Moses Kuria claimed that his successor Justin Muturi had not found it fit to call him for an official handover, he has finally handed over the ministry.

Muturi on Friday, August 16, 2024, took to his official  account to state that Kuria had made an official handover in the morning.

Muturi’s commitment

While officially taking over the ministry, Muturi committed to enhancing the efficiency, accountability, and transparency of Kenya’s public service delivery.

“This afternoon, I had the honor of officially taking over the Ministry of Public Service and Human Capital Development. I step into this role with a deep commitment to enhancing the efficiency, accountability, and transparency of our public service delivery,” Muturi stated.

Muturi went ahead to state that he was fully aware of the challenges ahead, and promised to do everything possible to overcome them.

According to Muturi, continuous training and development for the country’s public service providers is key to progress.

“I am fully aware of the challenges ahead, but I am equally confident in our collective ability to overcome them and deliver the best for Kenyans.

“As we move forward, I believe that continuous training and development for our public service providers is key to our progress as a nation. We must equip our workforce with the skills and knowledge they need to meet the evolving demands of our citizens,” Muturi stated as he officially took over Public Service Ministry from Kuria.

Muturi on Moses Kuria

Muturi thanked Kuria for the efforts he had made during his tenure at the ministry.

“I am grateful to my predecessor and friend, Hon. Moses Kuria, for the significant strides he made during his tenure, and I look forward to building on that foundation,” he said.

Kuria’s outburst

Speaking on Monday, August 12, 2024, when he appeared in an evening televised interview with one of the local TV stations, Kuria claimed that Muturi has not found it fit to call him for an official handover.

“Justin Muturi has not found it fit to call me even for a handover. Muturi is my friend of many years. You cannot be what young people are calling ‘kipendekezi’. I cannot pendekeza myself. It must be an invitation to do a handover. I was brought up with some mannerisms which don’t allow me to force myself on people,” Kuria told Citizen TV.
