Morara Kebaso laments lost values in Kenya, calls for God’s intervention

Political activist Morara Kebaso has expressed concern over what he describes as a troubling decline in values and morality across Kenya.
In a message shared on his official X account on Sunday, July 20, 2025, Morara lamented the state of the nation, saying that only divine intervention can heal the country’s broken moral fabric.
“The Kenya we live in today treats leaders of integrity with suspicion. Everyone expects you to be dishonest to an extent that if you display some honesty, you look like a pretender,” Morara stated.
Adding;
“People are so selfish to the extent that if you are selfless, then you are naive. People celebrate violence to the extent that if you don’t act violently, they see you as a weak person.”
He went on to say that moral decay is evident in many areas of daily life, from politics and business to workplaces.
“It is everywhere. You can see it in the leaders they elect. You can see it in how they do business. You can see the dishonesty of employees at their workplaces,” he said.
The former presidential aspirant admitted that despite his desire to fix things, the current situation feels overwhelming.
“I genuinely wish I could do something about it. But this one is beyond my capability to handle. Only God can do something at this point. He is the only one who can change a heart of stone to a heart of flesh. I am relying on Him to do something,” he said.
Quit politics
Morara’s remarks come just weeks after he announced his withdrawal from active politics, despite previously declaring his intention to run for the presidency in 2027.
In another post shared on the night of Monday, June 23, 2025, Morara revealed that he would hand over all political assets, donated by Kenyans of goodwill, to the current leadership of INJECT.
“I am aware that there are assets in my possession that were contributed by Kenyans of goodwill. I will hand over the assets to the capable INJECT leadership, who will continue with the dream of building a political party that gives a chance to young people. You can expect to hear from them soon after they meet,” he wrote.
Among the assets donated to his campaign are a Land Cruiser vehicle and a public address system, items that symbolised the public’s faith in his leadership vision.
Reflecting on his time in politics, Morara admitted that it has taken a toll on him emotionally.
“The Lord our God gives favour to men according to His will. He gave me a moment in the spotlight, and I did my best with it. But in the process, I have carried anger and pain. So much so that if I do not destroy something, it will destroy me. I cannot do it anymore,” he shared.
Despite stepping away from the political frontline, Morara assured his supporters that he would continue to contribute in other ways.
“We are 55 million of us; surely there is no shortage of leaders. I am ready to cheer, support, advise, console, and contribute financially.”
