Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has issued a public alert warning Kenyans to disregard fake recruitment messages circulating on social media.

According to the Authority, a fake message has been circulating across various social media platforms and stating that the service is hiring, contrary to what KWS states; hence, the message has been misleading millions of Kenyans.

In a statement, released by the Authority on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, KWS clarified that no official recruitment is currently underway and any documents or claims suggesting otherwise are fraudulent and should be treated with caution.

“Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) warns the public against fake recruitment messages circulating on social media and other social platforms. These messages are false and do not originate from the service,” KWS stated.

In addition, KWS further clarified that no recruitment exercise is currently ongoing, and any job advertisements being shared online are false and unauthorised.

“Currently, no recruitment is ongoing. The documents being shared are fraudulent and should be ignored,” KWS stated.

Official communication platform

Similarly, it has also emphasised that all official communication regarding job opportunities or recruitment is only shared through the organisation’s official website (www.kws.go.ke).

In addition, the authority noted that KWS will also make any official communication through its verified social media pages and national newspapers.

Meanwhile, KWS has further encouraged the public to report any suspicious recruitment activity by contacting their offices through the official communication channels.

Worth noting, this warning comes as part of a wider effort by KWS to protect job seekers from scams that often target desperate youth looking for employment in reputable government institutions.

Notably, the warnings just came days after KWS made an announcement of two senior vacancies. In a notice published on MyGov on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the authority stated it’s seeking to recruit a Director of Legal and a Director of Planning and Enterprise.
