Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, describing him as a man who has been rejected by God, the devil, and even the church.

His remarks come in the wake of Ruto’s controversial statement in which he claimed to have spoken to the late Chief Cheluget of Narok about the purchase of a parcel of land, despite the fact that the chief died several years ago.

Speaking when he accompanied former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for a church service at Christ’s Joy Christian Church in Gatanga, Murang’a County, on Sunday, May 18, 2025, Koimburi stated that the incident was deeply troubling and urged Kenyans to be cautious of Ruto’s actions, warning that such bizarre behaviour should not be brushed aside or taken lightly.

“We are troubled about this president who is speaking with the dead. That is why we are saying that he has been cursed by the church; he has been rejected by God and even by the devil,” Koimburi said.

According to Koimburi, Ruto had never held any conversation with the late Chief Chelugot, as he publicly claimed, and instead was merely attempting to seize the large piece of land in question.

Koimburi insisted that the land had been set aside for the late chief’s children, and Ruto’s insatiable appetite to grab it from the bereaved family is what he believes has now drawn upon him a grave spiritual condemnation from the church and led to his complete rejection in both divine and moral realms.

“He wants to grab land that rightfully belongs to another family, land that was set aside for the children of the deceased, and he wants to give it away to other people, and what we are saying is that as Kenyans, we have refused to tolerate land theft and killings,” he added.

Koimburi further shared that the chief whom Ruto claimed to have spoken to died nearly eight years ago, and said that those associating with the president should be extremely careful because such a claim reveals a disturbing level of dishonesty and manipulation.

“May God bless you all, but we are living in fear because there is a man going around claiming that he is speaking to people who passed on years ago — this man stood on top of a car and declared that he had just spoken to someone who, in reality, died eight years ago, and then said that they had agreed he would be given the land,” Koimburi added.

Plea for prayers

Koimburi, who acknowledged that the Christ’s Joy Christian Church had recently welcomed a new bishop, took a moment to appeal to the clergy and the church congregation to continue praying for him and their leader, Rigathi Gachagua.

He said this was because the Kenya Kwanza administration had subjected them to endless persecution, and that their steadfast support for Gachagua was another reason why they were being targeted and pushed aside within the party.

“Bishop, we are hoping that you are keeping us in your prayers — I, together with Rigathi Gachagua — because it is our decision to stand by him that has led to us being insulted and forcefully removed from the party,” he said.

However, he declared that he would stand by Gachagua to the very end, no matter the consequences, and went on to rally residents of Gatanga to support Gachagua with the same unwavering commitment as his own Juja constituents.

“But I have said I will stand with Gachagua; even if he falls into a pit, I will fall in with him, and I want to tell the people of Gatanga to also join us in this, because now that he is in the DCP party, we in Juja have also declared that we are in the DCP party.”
